A native of Metz, Bruno Tartarin comes from a family of artist-photographers and collectors, and developed a passion for old photographs while browsing at flea markets from an early age. A DNSEP graduate from the Metz School of Fine Arts in 1996, he moved to Paris two years later, first as a chamber dealer, then co-founding a gallery dedicated to old and modern photography in the Passage Verdeau (Photo Verdeau, now closed). At regular intervals, he publishes thematic or monographic catalogs based on his collection. More recently, he has created a salon (The Fair) which takes place every year at the same time as Paris Photo and for which he has now delegated the organization, a biannual periodical in English (The Classic) which deals with current events in old photography around the world, and more recently a gallery (The Place) located in the historic Passage Vivienne in Paris.
