The art market can sometimes appear opaque, or even hermetic. Built on speculation and risk, it exposes both gallerists and artists to strong financial pressure. While some renowned artists achieve high ratings on the art market, emerging artists often face precarious career paths and limited incomes.
Today, new approaches are emerging that help sustain artistic practice and facilitate the circulation of artworks at lower costs — for instance, through the production of art editions and the development of online platforms. These are some of the dynamics reflected in the exhibition €AT, currently on view at Casino Luxembourguntil 15 February 2026.
During this talk, the exhibition curators Nora Cristea and Vincent Schneider will talk about the contemporary challenges around the visibility and dissemination of art, placing the artist at the centre of the conversation. Their curatorial approach consists in supporting artists through studio visits, mentoring, portfolios, publications, and curatorial projects.
Biographies
Nora Cristea’s work focuses on presenting artistic positions – in the form of monographs, portfolio works, and websites – as well as through her roles as a lecturer and mentor in the field of cultural education. Some of the publications she has designed are on display in Casino Luxembourg’s bookshop.
While working in blue-chip galleries, Vincent Schneider volunteered as a co-curator for a non-profit artist-run space in Cologne, where he supported numerous artists in realizing their first solo exhibitions. He currently works primarily as a designer for the entertainment industry and on his own exhibition projects.
With the CAT platform, they are both pursuing the goal of simplifying access to the art market for collectors. This initiative provides the opportunity to directly support artists by purchasing their editions. In this way, people can experience art by making it part of their living space.
