Degrés Est : Elise Grenois

Elise Grenois (born in 1992, lives and works in Strasbourg) has been invited to take over the Degrés Est space, dedicated to artists linked to the Grand Est region, at the suggestion of Felizitas Diering, director of Frac Alsace.

D’où naissent les formes ? (Where do forms come from?) is the title of one of her works from 2019, a good introduction to Elise Grenois' practice. A graduate of the Haute École des Arts du Rhin (HEAR) in Strasbourg, Elise Grenois is interested in “intermediate forms,” those of the creative process between the studio and the exhibition space. Her sculptures are born out of a deep knowledge of materials (paraffin, bronze, porcelain, crystal, glass, etc.).

Recently, she started working with manufactured objects and repurposing molding techniques. For her exhibition at Frac Lorraine, she gives shape to time by presenting paraffin tiles, an ancestral technique reinvented in the fragility of an ephemeral material.
