Stadtgalerie Saarbrücken

The Stadtgalerie reopened on November 30, 2012.

Since it was founded, the Stadtgalerie Saarbrücken has been one of the outstanding institutions for contemporary art, with an influence far beyond its region. Its character as a “permanent laboratory” with a clear allegiance to the site-specific, the installation, and the experimental in art is unique.

Since September 1, 2012 until July 30, 2020, it was been directed by the art historian Dr. Andrea Jahn of Stuttgart. As curator for the Galerie der Stadt Stuttgart and vice director of the Württembergischer Kunstverein, Jahn made her name with exhibitions of contemporary art such as performances, installations, and videos. From 2008 onward she was the director of the Kunstverein Friedrichshafen.

An international program of young, not-yet-established artists will continue to define the profile of the Stadtgalerie Saarbrücken.
